Dave,

from what I remember of the original omni tools suite, the option to not show a palette item for something security is not granted for was available. It appears it still is available as "hide windows on palettes when denied security"

however this doesn't seem to work the way I remember it.

Say you deny access to the sales transactions palette, shouldn't it not show sales as an item under transactions?

Plus, how do you get rid of that annoying grant temporary permanent access screen that pops up when someone tries to access a screen they shouldn't be in?

whoops, forgot to add.

If that annoying grant temporary/permanent access can't go away... where is that password set up? it's not the system password????

The Hide palette entries option does behave the same on Omni Security and Advanced Security. It is limited to controlling core palettes, it does not work for palettes contained in addon dictionaries (technical issue stopped it working) and it does not effect the toolbar.

The Sales entry under Transactions is actually a toolbar entry not a palette entry. Open the palette and it should be empty, if you have Omni Tools v7.x installed with Omni Notify it will actually tell you that the palette is empty, otherwise it may just appear to do nothing.

As for the interactive dialog...

It can be control using Omni tools (even without reg keys). The Omni Tools control panel was not part of the code purchased by MBS, but it does allow that dialog to be either set not to allow overriding or not to appear at all.

Yes, the password needed for overriding is the System Password. When this is no system password, it still offers the choices, but then says that overriding is not possible unless there is a system password. It needs some restriction to prevent abuse.

Now.. for v8 (which is the last version I will be coding for Global Development). V8 is due mid 2004.

1) it is 10-20 times faster and no longer has an external accelerator/ctree cache.

2) There are a number of Advanced Features which are waiting for approval. They can be turned on with a dex.ini setting, but may not be enabled by default.

3) The advanced features include, the ability to stop overiding or stop the dialog entirely AND also to use a different password other than the System Password.

Hope this helps
