I have two tables from the same Oracle datasource. Each table has a field in common but when I link them both in Access and look at the data type for the common field in each table the data types are different. In one table it is "text" and in the other it is "number." This causes a "type mismatch" error whenever I link these tables. Right now I have to import one of the tables and then manually change the datatype which is a bit of a headache.

Is there a way to select the data types when linking tables from an outside datasource into Access? Any idea why Access does this?

THANKS!!
