Advanced MRP question

A guru type question. Perhaps some one out there can save me a call to Mac tech support(or a bunch of hacking) by answering this questions for me. When the Macola MRP regen creates an MR type raw material requirement record in MRREQFIL, does it create it for any requirement or only for a requirement that is not covered by current inventory? In other words, if I totalled requirements using MR as my criteria, would I then subtract current inventory to get outstanding requirements or has the regen already done this?

Provided that the Order Policy Code for the item is not blank, Macola will generate an MR for every item where there is a requirement, regardless if there is sufficient inventory to cover that requirement.

I tested this with 5 parts that were identical except for the fact that they all had difference Order Policy Codes. I put a Qty on hand of 50 for all 5 items. I then entered a customer order for each of these items, at a quantity of less than 50. 4 of the 5 had an MR after regenerating MRP.

The way it will do this, and the number of MRs generated is a very complicated algorithm and is based on Order Policy Code, Lot Size, Min Order, Order Up To, Planning Order Multiple and several other fields in the item master.
