Advanced file sharing question

I have a Windows XP Pro computer and I want to do some advanced file sharing so I can limit access to some directories. That's simple enough, so here's the meat and 'taters of it...

The computers I want to share files with are in a domain. They are all either Windows XP Pro, or 2000Pro. The "server" that needs to do the sharing is NOT in the domain. Is it possible to do this? If so, how.

I have the "server" set up so that if the other computers were not in a domain, the advanced file sharing works fine. If the computers are in a domain, there is no restrictions placed on the file shares.

Due to the pricks running the network, I cannot have the "server" in the domain (I don't have the password).

Any help is appreciated.

Is the server connected to the network just not the domain? If so is it obtaining an IP address?

If connected to the LAN you should be able to access that station by the station name UNC. You will not be able to put in your domain account to login but you should be able to put in an account that is local to that server.

The "server" is in the network, just not logged into the domain server. I can see it over the network and get to the shares, the problem was that it was not limiting the access to the shares.

I was able to resolve the issue by changing the local security policy "Network access: let Everyone permissions apply to anonymous users" be disabled. What I don't understand is why the domain computers would be anonymous. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
