Try My Computer, Dial Up Networking, Connections, Settings. It's something in there, probably the redial settings.

nah, i tried that route already. i've pretty much done everything i could think of. reinstalled DUN tcp/ip all network components (just in case) i even repaired IE but all to no avail. :-(

ya think i should just format/restore? "Jack of all trades. Master of none."

I'm guessing it'll be a registry entry...

try checking under HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\RemoteAccess

all I have in there are the keys Addresses and Profile
Address contains a list of dial up connections (inc VPN)
Profile contains a set of subkeys; each one specific to a particular dial up connection.

hopefully, you'll see a nice key marked "advancedsettings=0" [smile] if only microsoft made things that obvious!

as always - backup registry before making any changes, change registry entries at own risk, etc.
