I have a strange problem with my ADSL connection. On Saturday morning I tried connecting my modem/router with the new user/pass that was provided to me. It connected fine to my surprise, considering that my activation date is tomorrow [today in reality as BT activate the line and Nildram tell you one day later is activation].
I have had broadband for a year at my previous address but since I have just moved I decided to upgrade to a 2Mbit service. Its a different address and number etc and I had to get another account set up. All that is fine.
I have not changed any settings on my router/modem apart from the log in details. All other settings are as the instructions specify on my welcome letter [happens to be same settings as my 512 line i just cancelled at old address].
I have been able to log on at least 2 days before the official activation date. I can browse web pages fine and its nice and quick. However, I am unable to dowenload anything specific. For example, a driver or a movie or a zip file. Anything I try to download starts and then stops after about 1-2 seconds. It doesnt finish, it just sits there with a speed of 0.
I have tested may files including ones on ftp sites and ones on http sites. I have tried a download manager and still I get the same.
I am hoping that this is a connection issue that will dissapear after today [the BT activation date] or tomorrow [activation date supplied by Nildram].
