Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone could offer me any advice. I working with an ADSL connection from a UK provider and at the moment the router they supplied does not have NAT enabled on it. I am trying to setup remote access into the network but i cannot get it to work.

I am thinking of swapping the router out for one that supports nat. If i swap the routers out so that the new one uses NAT will this work? Is NAT something that needs to be activated or enabled by the ISP (easynet)?

Thanks in advance,

I'd say it's got nothing at all to do with the ISP! If you run a USB modem you don't get a NAT option.

In all the NAT equipped routers I've come across in the UK, NAT is enabled by default. All you will need to do is configure the WAN side of the router, ADSL logon username and password, PPPoA or E, set router to VPI=0 VCI=38, save settings and reboot it.

Don't forget to change the router's (admin) logon password to make it secure. By default it's usually admin, password, or something equally as memorable.

As GOAOZ says, it's enabled by default on your router.

NAT (Network Address Translation)
NAT allows all LAN PCs to gain Internet access via this Router, by sharing this Router's WAN IP address. In most situations, NAT is essential for Internet access via this Router. You should only disable NAT if you are sure you do not require it. When NAT is disabled, only standard routing is performed by this Router.
