ADSL and Kermit - can they co-exist?

We have a line dedicated to ADSL except for once a fortnight when we disconnect the ADSL modem and connect a 56k modem to transmit payroll to the bank using the bank's ancient DOS Telix-like comms program which uses Kermit as the protocol. We have the in-line filter supplied by the ADSL ISP but never used (Alcaltel Speed Touch). The ISP says we can use this on the modem line so we can use both simultaneously but I have my doubts and we never got ADSL and a fax machine to coexist using the same filter a year ago. These filters were I believe intended where the ADSL line is also used for voice, not a secondary data transmission application. Will the filter let ADSL and Kermit co-exist peacefully?

your adsl signal is digital. your modem you use to xfer data
to the bank modulates a digital signal to an analog signal to be carried over voice lines. in theory, the two should work...having said that, i've never tried it. my guess would
be to try it out and see how your terminal software responds. you sure won't hurt anything.
let me know how you make out..

Just to add my experience. I have an ADSL connection at home for personal use. I also connect my laptop to my organization's network using the phone line with the filter in between. Works a treat for me.

Both connections remain stable.
