Trying to run ADPREP on Win2K to add a Win2K8 DC. ADPREP /forestprep is failing with error(31). Log files says 'not enough space on the disk'.

This POS machine has 730mb free out of 4g, so how much space could this process actually need?! Any suggestions?

I should add that this Win2K server was already updated to schema 44 last week. I can see both my Win2K servers running schema 44. When adding the Win2K8 server I'm being told to update the schema, which is giving me the error...

Is the current released Windows 2008 44, or higher?

I've managed to free up a 1.18g of free space, and it's still failing with the same error. I'm starting to guess that it's not actually a free space issue.

Just to verify - your running the schema changes on the current holder of the schema master FSMO role, right?

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

Yes this is on the FSMO. In the end I reduced the page file, ran a chkdsk, then defrag. Got to 1.8g free and it worked! No idea what it could need all this space for, but it really was the disk space.

I was able to add the Win2K8 to the domain and so far so good...
