Hi. I've got an Adaptec 2200S with a total of 10 drives. Eight of the drives are paired in RAID1 arrays, and two of the drives are hot spares. So I've got 4 volumes (2 drives each) and 2 spares.
All of the drives are Maxtor or Seagate 34GB SCSI. The Maxtor drives show up as 34.252GB in storage manager, and the Seagates are reported as 34.183GB.
The problem I'm having is that my two available hot spares are both of the 34.183GB variety, and ASM won't allow me to mark either as a hot spare for two of my volumes. The two volumes in question are 34.178GB in size. From the interface, I simply cannot assign a hot spare to these volumes, and even global hot spares are not shown as protecting them. The two volumes that I can protect are 34.149GB in size.
I believe this is a size issue, although it's a very tiny difference in size here.
What drives me nuts is that I have used one of the "smaller" Seagate drives to replace a failed Maxtor drive in the past and the rebuild went just fine. In fact, one of my volumes consists of both a maxtor and seagate drive.
Is there anything I can do here?
