ADP Multi user access in Citrix environment

Hello,

I have an ADP front end with SQL Server backend. My environment is Citrix and the ADP is set up in an application pool so there is only one instance of the ADP . This locks the file when a user connects to it and therefore does not let any other users open up another connection. Is this the right set up OR should each user have their own instance of the ADP in their own drive on the citrix server. Just wondering if anyone has set up multi user ADP in citrix environment?

Thanks in advance

With our set up there is only one ADP on the Citrix server but this does not prevent multi users accessing/using it at the same time.

They just have to understand that the warning messages about being read only apply to changes to the client ADP & not the database itself and as a normal end user they can be safely ignored.

As Citrix is not our normal operating environment (it's used for connections from outside/emergency access only) we don't perceive this as an issue. I don't think multiple people have tried to use it concurrently in reality though I have tested it with multiple Citrix connections when we first set it up.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. From what I can make out and from what I have read in other forums I don't think it is possible to have multi users accessing the same front end ADP located in a single location (on citrix). I'm not sure what you mean when you say you have tested it with 'multiple citrix connections'. I'm trying to avoid creating multiple front end instances if possible. BTW I have'nt actually got a Citrix environment so I can't test the theory myself :)

Thanks
Ran

Access 2005

In addition to this - does anyone know where the setting are in Access 2005 to set the 'Default Open mode' eiher in Shared or Exclusive. This was in the Options Tab for Access 2000 but I don't know where to set this in 2005.

Thanks

From what I can make out and from what I have read in other forums I don't think it is possible to have multi users accessing the same front end ADP located in a single location (on citrix).

My own tests contradict that view & I have been able to have multi users accessing the same front end ADP located in a single location (we only have one copy on Citrix).

Default open mode can be found under 'tools' - 'options' - 'advanced'
