Hi,

I plan to upsize current Access Application to SQL Server Application.

I read a documentation. It say 'it will create a ADP file after upsizing'.

I confuse ADP and MDB format now.I check the current application,it is MDB format now.Do I have to convert it to ADP format after I upsizing it to SQL Server?

Thanks

M

The Upsizing wizard will attempt to make a working ADP linked to SQL server when it is done.

Or you could upsize just your data and link the tables in the existing MDB to SQL server instead.

An ADP is an Access front end with management tools for SQL serrver. You can open your SQL 'queries' from Access and design them versus using a SQL tool for SQL server and Access (mdb) to run them in Access.

If you go the ADP route, I suggest you take a look in the ADP forum. Look at my question posts and see how things work differently.

Hi,

Do you think if I also can open ADP file and update it like I open/update mdb file.

Thank you for help

Mark

That depends on what you mean by "open/update". Do you mean push a new front end out?

If so sure, but you are likley storing a variable for the front end version in a table. You will need to make it a constant in a module instead as you can't have local tables in an ADP.
