Adobe Premiere re Transitions

Hello,

I am new Adobe Premiere and I am having trouble "importing" some Transition functions into the film that I am editing, i.e. dissolve, etc. I am able to drag the dissolve icon into and under the piece of video that I am editing in the TimeLine but it does not work when i play it back....can anyone help me. I apologize for not being so articulate.

They won't work when you export to tape? Are you just hitting play? Are you using Preview? I'll bet that's it. You need to hit Preview each time you make a change to see it. Hope that helps.
