Hi all,

I'm trying to import an AutoCAD 2002 drawing into Photoshop 7 so I can make an otherwise boring-looking engineering drawing look a bit more 'flash' for a presentation. Only problem is I have no idea how to do this - I've not really used Photoshop before and it seems to act a lot differently to other art packages I've got (i.e. Sefif DrawPlus 7).

Here are some links to the kind of thing I'm trying to achieve:

The one on the left is the drawing as it appeared in autoCAD and the one on the right is after it's been imported into Photoshop and touched up.

Also, see:

This was taken from Artichect.com. It was originally all just a vector drawing but they've filled in the vectors with some kind of patterns/textures.

I can get a raster image of my drawing into Photoshop by simply pressing 'Print Screen' then copying it into the package. But how do I do the fill effects? It seems I can only use the Paint Bucket function to fill in regions with single colours. How do I fill in regions of a raster image with proper textures? How do I apply effects etc....?

Any help appreciated.

Thx
-Rob

It might be easier to use Illustrator to fill your drawing with effects instead of using Photoshop. What you desire CAN be done in Photoshop, but if you have little experience with it, it could take a while. If you have Illustrator, you should try it there first. Illustrator can open formats such as DXF, DWG, CGM, EPS or WMF. I haven't used Autocad for some time, but it should export your drawing in one of those formats to open in Illustrator.
