I have been using Adobe InDesign CS for 2 weeks now without problems. Suddenly, the key commands such as "spacebar" for toggling around the document and "command+spacebar" for zooming in and out have completely disappeared. They will not work in InDesign or Illustrator CS which is very frustrating and slows me down completely. I have reinstalled InDesign CS twice but it does not seem to help.

Any advice on how to recover these useful shortcuts?

It appears that you might have somehow altered the shortcuts - Edit menu/Keyboard Shortcuts. Try going to that and select Default and see what you get. Illustrator also has somewhat similar shortcuts. Do the same in Ill

You did not say what OS you use. I'm on OSX. If you're on that, you might go to User/Library/Preferences and go to Indesign and Illustrator without either app launched. Try trashing and relaunching. If things are messed up after you launch, quit, retrash the prefs and reinstall.

I do not know how to trash prefs in Windows. However, if you use that, you might try running the Uninstall and then reistalling - with virus protection turned off.

Firstly, I am on OSX and on a mac. I already trashed the preferences and relaunched both applications and it still does not work. I will try your other suggestions of quiting retrashing and then reinstalling.

If you have any other suggestions, let me know.
Thanks again!

Yeah! I realized that you had asked on the Mac forum - instead of the Indesign forum after I posted. Sorry. Make sure you check the Keyboard Shortcuts on the Edit menu - especially if anybody else has access to your machine.

I assume that all your regular Mac keyboard shortcuts work like Command C for Copy, etc. and that it's only the special Adobe ones that are messed up. I'm also assuming that you're not working on a trial version of the program.

You assumed correctly. And yes the regular key commands like command C for copy and others work just fine. It's just these 2 in particular.

I just quite, trashed and reinstalled and it worked!!!! YEY.
Appreciate your help!
