Adobe Bridge File Info

Hello,

I'm trying to find out if when you change metadata in bridge and click to apply the data... does it resave the image? As in recompressing it? Or does it just update the metadata? I noticed that when you do apply new metadata its changing the file's "modify date". Anyone have any insight on this?

...metadata is a part of the image file data, therefore it becomes modifed when changed and hence that days date is added, the creation dates do not change...

...in other words, yes it does resave itself in a way...
