Double click the sound file in the project pane (where your source clips are located).
A new viewer should show up. Press play.
Do you hear it?
On the timeline layer -- press "L L" do you see a waveform.
If both of these are true, press "." on the number pad.
Hear anything?
Remember: Space bar doesn't work for audio
