Does anyone know if there is a way that something on the network could cause problems with the Adobe installed on individual computers?

Adobe is installed on individual computers. Some computers have Adobe Acrobat Standard, some have Adobe Reader and some have both.
PDFs are stored on a network drive.
Custom application is used to access the individual pdf's according to a filing number system.

I have had problems when Reader is installed alongside the full version. Resolved by uninstalling Reader (don't need it with full version anyhow).
