Adobe Acrobat automatic bookmarks from TOC

I am having problems when creating a PDF from WordPerfect 8 document. All seems to be correct except that the automatic generation of bookmarks from the WordPerfect table of contents codes is not working. Expected result is that any text that is wrapped with <TOC1> should appear as a bookmark automatically. Using 4.05c of acrobat and nothing is generated. Any ideas?

Sadly acrobat just doesn't do that. PDF writer creates no links based on settings in the original document. The PDF is just as static as paper. You have to either build them manually or create a macro in VB. See thread223-32074 for some discussion on the same topic.
