Adobe Acrobat 8 error message

I am receiving an error message when trying to install Adobe Acrobat 8 on Window XP Pro. Error 1406. Could not write value to key \software\Classes\CLSID\{B801CA65-A1FC-11D0-85AD-444553540000}\PersistentHandler. Verify you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel. I tried to give myself permission to the persistent handler and it stated access denied. I am an administrator on this computer. I tried unistalling Adobe 7 reader and installing Adobe Acrobat and still getting the same message. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My reason for installing this program is to see if I could export from PDF to excel. Does anyone know if this could be done with ADobe Acrobat Pro 8 and Excel 2003?

Can you find any clues from a thread like this. I notice later on it mentions an Adobe tool for difficult installs.
