ADO has 4 main Cursor types:

2 non-updatable cursors :

adForwardOnly - non-updatable forward only scrolling, no MoveFirst or MoveLast. NonBookMarkable

asStatic - non-updatable, allows bi-directional scrolling, and allows MoveFirst and MoveLast. BookMarkable

2 Updateable cursors:

adUseKeySet - you see all updates to data that was retrieved and all you insertions, but not other users. Bidirectional Scrolling.

adUseDynamic - you see all insertions and updates, slowest but most powerfull. Bidirectional Scrolling.

For more information look at ADO 2.6 Programmers Reference by WROX - I think its the ADO bible, or try MSDN.
