On one of my Windows 2000 servers I am running low on space in the system partition. There is a lot of space being taken up by files in \Documents and Settings\Administrator\Temp. Is is safe to delete them? How can I safely free up some space there? Some of the files seem old.

Worst case scenario is to run a batch file that will delete the temp files, and put the batch script in the scheduler to run every day.

A better way to clear up space on the system partition, if you haven't done this already, is to move the paging file to a different partition. You can do this like this:

1. Right-click on My Computer
2. Select Properties
3. Click on the Advanced tab
4. Click on the Performance Options button
5. Under Virtual Memory, click the Change button
6. Select a partition other than C: and set a size for the paging file.
7. Remove the page file from C:

If it doesn't allow you to remove it completely, set it to some minimum number. Hope this helps you! If it does, how about a star?
