Hi

Anyone know any way to log into administrator account
if the password is forgotten?

I hear that there is a way to enter user manger at the
logon screen by some command and change the administrator password without using third party software. Pls care to share?

thanks

R u referring to a local machine or domain.

Local machine, if trusted to a domain log in with an admin and password which will give you rights.

Server, if admin password known then log in etc...

Domain, log in with other admin password

Unattached/above not working, create new NTFS partition (With new admin password which you remember) and allocate other NTFS partition, can be used to restore data.

There is no known safe way of restoring the admin password, there are utilities, but I would only recommended MS programs (They dont make any that break passwords) wuch as USERMGR etc.

Hope this of help.

How long have you got to fix it!!!

Option one, use a boot disk with the utility to enable you to view NTFS file store, take a copy of the SAM and crack the passwords with a product called Lopht Crack.

Option two, use a boot disk with the same utility as above and replace the logon screen saver box with the command prompt, now when your logon screen saver kicks in you will get a command prompt box, completely bypassing the NT perms.
