Does anybody know the default Administrator Password which is requested when accessing the Recovery Console in Windows XP Home Edition; this has not been set by the hardware manufacturer or myself but without it I can not use the Recovery Console
The default password for the administrator account is blank, just press enter. Please let us know what you think of posts, feedback is always appreciated as this will help to further our knowledge as well.

All that's required for evil to suceed is for good men to do nothing.
Thank you for the reply but pressing enter produces 'Invalid Password' error message - any other suggestions. I can confirm that no Admin Password has been input to date by the user
In Home this Registry key controls Recovery Console Security and the use of the SET Command.
You have to be able to access Home to use it. and would need to have it in place before requiring the Recovery Console.
XP Home is a bit limited in the use of Recovery Console. Have a look at the SET command in recovery console. You can also look at this amended Registry Key and the values which will give you more access. (Backup before making any changes).
I can't remember what the "SecurityLevel" should be altered to so try 00000000 then 00000001 if you are having entry problems because of passwords. This registry fix is only necessary in Home not in Pro.
These articles applies to XP Pro in home you must use the registry fix for the same result, however check them out.
