I upgraded a computer from XP home to XP Pro. The administrator folder in the documents and settings folder now has the name administrator followed by a string of letters and numbers. Is there a way to rename it to get rid of them.
Thanks.

OK. Let me be a little more clear. My administrator folder that lives nside of the "My Documents" folder is named this:
Administrator.YOUR-049EAD9998
I would like to get rid of the .YOUR-049EAD9998 part
Is there a way to do this and how is it done.

First, the YOUR-049EAD9998 is your computer name and it really is not doing any harm.

Second, if it bothers you and you don't want it that way, my suggestion will be to start using a normal user account instead of the the Administrator account. Create a new account with whatever username you'd like Then use this procedure (even though your existing user profile is not corrupt) to copy your user information to the new account.

Smah answered that one really to the point...

the second link has a lot of info on how to do it... but unless there is DATA that is needed, I would not even bother with copying over stuff, I would just take ownership and delete that folder or leave it alone...

Only ask questions with yes/no answers if you want "yes" or "no"
