Administrator cannot install "Volume Not Writable!

Sorry if this is a really basic question but I am new to Apple Macs.

I have several ibooks and imacs running OS X (10.2.5) and I am unable to install software, I get the message "You cannot install the software on this disk. The Volume is Not Writable".

The software in question is AdmitMac.

Appologies again if this is a stupid question!!
