Has anyone ever seen a situation where a DC just stops recognizing the admin account as such?
All of a sudden this morning, print services died, systems hung at Applying Computer Settings during boot. Went to the DC (Administrator was logged in) and could not access my mmc for Group Policy (said I didn't have the correct permissions). No mmc would load. Could not shutdown or restart as I hadn't permission for that either.
Did a physical restart and everything seems fine. For now. The only event that was logged that was out of the ordinary was in the App Log. Event 1000, Source Userenv.

The only thing I can think of that could be interferring would be the backweb client that was recently installed for mcafee enterprise.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any suggestions?

Thanks a kajilliion..

marina.

Hurry up and go to C:\WINNT\system32\LogFiles and check your logs, make sure nobody accessed your server remotely. Also, do a virus check. Might be a fluke though. Good luck. Glen A. Johnson

Hi Glen,

Thanks for the info. Virus scan came out clean. Couldn't find any trace of log files in system32 dir though.
Hmmm..perhaps I should be even more concerned about this than I am about the DC just deciding that it no longer recognizes the administrator account...

eek.

thanks again,

marina.
