Strange that when loading the software it asks for an administrator password AND a user name/password, yet only the user appears in the user list? Where is the "Administrator" account?
How does one log on as "Administrator" should the user account become corrupted?

The administrator account will be there if you boot in safe mode.

I also believe that there is a key you can press duing boot (or during logout of the other account) that will make the Administrator account appear for the next login. It might be Shift but I'm not sure.

The inbuilt Administrator account will always be available to you via Safe Mode. It is available also by typing "Administrator" in the classic login box if you don't use the Welcome Screen.

Any user accounts, whether limited or administrative can be created, removed or amended by you via User Accounts in Control Panel.

I access my Administrator account by logging off my account and at the Welcome screen I press Ctrl-Alt-Delete twice (2) which brings up the "classic" logon box! At which point just follow linney's directions and voila!

or as linney directs out if you use the "classic" logon!

or as everybody else has mentioned use safe mode!

Any one of the three will get you in!

If you use the Welcome screen you can have the Administrators account always appear on the Welcome screen by downloading and using tweakiu for XP. It's under Logon or similar tab!

Cheers
