When users browse the network they will see many
shared folders from the SBS2003 server. In some folders
they can make changes and I don't like that.
Can I make them all hidden by adding a $ to the sharename?
I'm afraid that maybe some system functions won't work
anymore if I do that. (netlogon and sysvol eg )
Also I like to keep the list short for the users and have
only visable the shares they need.

Well you must not make the sysvol and netlogon shares hidden. that's one.

All other folders you use give it a try and see if the application still works.

If you say users can make changes to folders and files that you don't want you should work with your NTFS rights on the folders and files. Give them the read only right for example.
