We have a admin (ext 4453) which take calls for a Director (ext 2234) on a option 81. The V-mail system is a Octel. Call comes in on 2234 the admin picks up for the director and want to send to V-mail without rings. When we forward to V-mail 6960 type her ext in it rings before the greeting. If she forwards back to 2234 or roll over line 5234 it rings first...

Anyone know of a way to go right to the greeting when the admin picks up these calls?

I am not sure I know what you mean by "go right to the greeting when the admin picks up these calls"

I assume you mean you want to be able to send the call right to his Voicemail and not have to hear ringing or something like that. You can add a phantom number in the PBX that hunts to the Octel on the first ring then add that number to the 2234 mailbox as an alias. That way you can transfer to the phantom number and it will go right to the mailbox 2234 on the first ring.

It sounds like the main greeting on the VM system is a automated attendant. When the call is placed to 6960, and the mailbox is entered, the call is transfered back to the extension. Depending on the setup, they maybe able to press # or *, to exit the automated attendand, then enter 2234.

I see what your saying here, but Im not to sure how to make this work. Create a ACDN (phanton number) in the Nortel system going to 6960 (V-mail). Then Im not sure how to add the Alias which would be the ACDN number to the mailbox?

If I forward the ACDN number to the ext 2234 it will follow the hunt on the set which will provide rings on the roll over line before dropping to mail..

# + ext asks for password..

* nope

This is killing me..

Is there a number in the system for express messaging?

Yes, we need to know what type of OCTEL message server you have connected to your Nortel Meridian PBX.
OCTEL Serenade 200/300 or Aria 250/350?

This Aria 250 and the release is a 02.01.05-1

if you don't mind the admin transfering to a number then keying in the directors mailbox number again, then setup a transfer target.

Add an ACD group to your Opt81 with no members, night call forward that group to the Voicemail Pilot number.
Add a mailbox equal to that ACD group number and make it a "Callers Menu plus Mailox" (type 30 something ??)

This can be used by anyone who needs to transfer to a mailbox without ringing the extension first

Now it's been forever since I worked on these so someone else might correct me if any of this suggestion is not accurate

one thing I forgot to mention, it's the ACD group the admin would transfer "to" in the first step, then after the "type 30 something" mailbox answers then dial the directors mailbox number and hit transfer again to complete the transfer

You would setup a station that has no hardware not sure what it is called in the Nortel. And make it hunt to the Octel pilot number. If the sta number is 3000 then you would go mailbox 2234 and in the mailbox profile add 3000 in the alias field. When you call 3000 it will then go immediately to mailbox 2234's personal greeting.

Ok in the Nortel no hardware numbers are ACDN's.. That I can do no problem.

Need help with the Aria 250 programming.. I can got into user profiles and setup V-mail boxes and delete. So, what I need is a little more detailed info on the STA and how to get there.

This is the only octel I have in my area and tell ya the true it's been rock solid. I just add new folks and delete the old, but this request is killin me. Please help with the commands start to finish if possible.

I think you can change mailbox 6960 to allow the star key to go to the main menu. Logon to the system and look at mailbox 6960, there should be a setting that has " * Key Definition:" it is probably set to 1, set this to 0, and the user will be able to dial 6940, then press * + mailbox to get to the mailbox.

Sorry I don't know how much clearer I can state this. If you go to menu 9-1 and look at the profile of the mailbox you will see a alias number field. put the new acddn number in it and have the admin dial it to send someone right to the VM of mb 2234.
