i have 2 remote locations, i am trying to reinitialize some passwords, problem is i cannot find admin ext number, 9997 works here, but not at remotes, any sugestions? all are merlin mail, older pbx's, dont have model number

AT&T used to recommend that owners change the default admin mailbox number from 9997 to something else. If that was done, then you need to find out from the user what they changed it to. If they don't know - I am afraid you will need to connect to each system either locally via the RS232 port and/or long-distance via modem - connected to the same RS232 port using hyperterminal. Once connected you can view the configuration report - which will show you the current admin mailbox number. You can then connect to the correct admin mailbox and default the password by logging in using the same 6-digit serial number. You will need that 6-digit serial number to connect locally and or via modem as well.
