admin exe hangs when adding new mail box

I am using exchange server 5.5 with service pack 3 when I am trying to add a new user the admin exe hangs. The rceipients under the server shows status unavailable but the exchange server is working fine as all existing users can send as well as receive mails. Any help is greatly appreciated.

First Quick Answer:
Attempt to re-apply Service pack 3 (or upgrade to Serivce Pack 4), reboot and try it again. If it happens again, continue to Second Answer...

Second detailed answer:
Are there any errors when Admin exe finally fails? When does the hang occur? After adding all the info for the user then hitting OK or when you first attempt to open the "Add new mailbox" properties? Can you change information of current users without the Admin exe hanging? Have you attempted to Administrate the box from another machine (Install just the Admin tool, log into the domain as Administrator (or whoever has admin right to Exchange) and try adding the user that way?
