I know I've seen this out here before, but I can't find it anywhere. I have XP pro and have 5 user accounts. Only one account has admin authority, the others do not. I now see that the one account with admin authority no longer has admin authority. Someone clicked on something they probably shouldn't have and now some cleanup needs to be done, but can't be done because of no admin authority.

How do I re-instate the account with admin authority?

Do you know the administrator password for the machine? You can type
Code:
runas /user:administrator cmd
Type in the password when it asks you for it. Then from the administrator cmd prompt, type
Code:
nusrmgr.cpl
You can reset the password from there.

You have the Built-in Administrator accessible from Safe Mode. That maybe passworded if someone set it, or more often or not is just a blank password.

You can use that to correct your Users via Control Panel/ Users Accounts.
