for the smdr i connect through the serial port open hyperterminal click new connection configure port for 1200 8 none 1 xon/xoff(ive also tried non and hardware as well)and click connect it says connected but i get nothing

for the admin port i connect through the serial port open cllick connect to partner system ive tried com1 and com2 and ever time its the same error
1 port may not exist or something like that
2 port may be used by something else

i cant figure it out i have also tried using different adapters that i use to connect to other servers and still nothing

there is an office full of engineers and we must all be stupid cause we cant figure it out

someone please help..............

thanks

Well, for the admin port, you're going to need to use the Remote Access software (download from ), SMDR can use Hyperterminal.

1200-N-8-1, NO flow control.

Regular Cat-5 patch cable from port to Avaya 355-A(F) adapter, to a 25 to 9 pin serial port adapter, to the serial port on your PC.

Check the PC's serial port by using a null modem adapter and connecting to another PC, see if you can talk to each other.

You should see the SMDR start spitting out as soon as you connect.

thats what i have done with two different systems and still nothing

and as far as the admin software we have that and i just get the error as i previously stated above

Are you using an Avaya 355-A(F) adapter? Or a home made one.

multiple different home made ones that i made using the pin outs from here and the at&t pinouts and still nothing

I would get one from your Vendor. I know the homemade ones are cheaper but how much time are you going to put into this before the cost difference catches up to you. Besides have your company buy it, its just another office expense they need if they want the job done.

I know this is not the way you wanted to connect to the R7 via admin software, but. Use the admin software on the pc to connect via the modem, either call in to it via a phone line, and transfer to ext 76. Or use an ext port connected to the modem, and dial 76 using the admin software. Single pair line cord preferred. Do not forget to set the password(#730) via x10, or x11 first, or it wont let you in.

You do not always get what you pay for, but you never get what you do not pay for.

man you guys wont believe this the 355 adapter wouldnt work for some strange reason the db9 adapter wouldnt work so i built two more 9pin adapters the exactsame way and one of them worked god damn thanks for all the hepl guys

now that i have everything up and running i had yet another question how far back can you see with the smdr report something like the history......i plugged in just now and its 420 here and it only went back like an hour or two ago is it possible to see like all calls since m9onday
