Hi 5454,
We also have to delete many Items with Lot Numbers from our system. We found this extra inactive Items recently and trying to delete from our system to get the actual Inventory stock. If you get the answer to your question (ours too), let us know.

I agree with you deleting or adjusting huge Inventory is real time consuming if we do it manually.

Consultants!! your guidance in this regard is hightly appreciated.

Thanks

Deleting inventory items presents a second issue you must deal with, the general ledger inventory value and potential inventory adjustments. And, MAS 90 will not let you simply delete any item if there is any activity on file. So, in order to delete inactive items:

1. Create a fictitious or "Catchall" inventory item into which you will merge the items you wish to delete. Be sure to set the Costing Type to "Lot" if you are using this method. You may want use an Item No. that will sort to the tail-end of the Item File, e.g. "ZZZ".

2. Using Inventory->Setup->Inventory Management Utilities->
Item Delete/Renumber/Merge, MERGE the inactive items into the fictitious item.

3. You may find values from the merged items in the new item that must be adjusted. If so, enter an inventory transaction to deal with the value, as necessary.

As to the GL consequences, I leave that to you to resolve.

Hi

I am sory I gave the wrong information I guess. We have to delete only the Lot Numbers keeping the Items. We dont want to delete the Inventory Items but we want to delete only the Lot Numbers. This we can do by using Adjustments but it takes lot of time.

Hope you got my point clear.

Thanks.
Rick
