Using Project 2003.
I am tracking several tasks in a project file and my manager needs to know an approximate % complete on a regular basis. Also on a regular basis we update the projected Finish date depending on resourcing, vacation schedules etc.

The issue I have is that when I change the projected Finish date, it automatically adjusts the percentage complete to some other number. I would like to be able to change the projected Finish date but have the % complete stay the same.

Is this possible and if so, what settings do I need to change to make it work? Thanks in advance.

%Complete is based on dration, not on work. %Work Complete is based on Work not duration.

Thanks for the suggestion. I added the % Work Complete column to the project view, but it acts exactly the same way as the % Complete column does (ie. adjusts % work complete when changing the Begin or Finish dates for the task). Any other suggestions? Thx

Sorry. I do this day-in, day-out (so I do this automatically) but forgot to remind you: Make certain the tasks are set to Fixed Work before changing the Duration.

So ... same answer: use the %Work Complete column values.

Thanks a lot for the help! That worked.
I thought there was a setting somewhere for this but just couldn't find it....
