My customer uses an adjunct port(556) w/ primary cover to 6 MLX sets and wants it to Delay Forward after 6-7 rings to the console(QCC, 540). I programmed everything I thought I needed, but I must still be missing something because when I activate the Forwarding feature the delay does not work. It rings the QCC the same time the cover buttons ring. Any ideas as to why it does not work? See the port configs below.

Hi,

I think the issue might be that those ports are covering so they are going to cover regardless of the forwarding. What you might try doing is setting the cover buttons to delay ring or changing them to secondary cover with a delay.

The programming code for the cover button is:

*40 plus the extension number for primary cover. OR

*41 plus the extension number for secondary cover.

In addition, you can further adjust when they ring by changing the ringing setting on the cover button.

Press the cover button while in program mode and then dial:

*37 for immediate ring.
*36 for 3 ring delay
*35 for no ring at all

If you use a secondary cover button and then program it to delayed ring, you should land around 5-6 rings.

Hope I understood your question and did'nt send you down the wrong road!

Let me know.

Thanks!

Joe

The cover buttons work fine, that is not the issue. I need the Delay Call Forwarding to the console to work, which it does't. It just forwards with no delay when I activate it using 80+8556#+*33+540! QCCs can't have cover buttons and that's not want the customer wants. They want the call to go to the console if it is not answered after 6-7 rings. Can a call be forwarded in this manner or should I use the LDN que? Would that work?

I can't believe with all the "Legend experts" out there that this could be that complicated to provide some input or a direction to find the info! I have reread the Features manuals, but no results.......

ANY TAKERS????????

....JIM....

In your PRINT OUT of 556, I do not see a FORWARD TO destination.

Are you trying to FORWARD some where or ?????

Make a separate cover group for the adjunct. Have the QCC set for the coverage eceiver for that group.

Thanks for your response. The reason the FORWARD TO is empty is in the printout is because I did not want to leave 556 active since it did not work at the time I did the printout.

So I create a new cover group, for example 775, default everything and then overflow it to the QCC 540 or do I use the LDN 800? Then I Call Forward 556 to 775? It can't be a coverage group on 556 because that is already in use for VMS in NITE mode.

Just to review, 556 rings on 6 MLX phones during the day. If it is not answered by 6-7 rings the call should forward to the QCC. In NITE mode it goes to VMS.(This part works OK).

In the mean time I'll try both and see what happens and report back.

....JIM....

No bueno! It doesn't work when I try to forward 556 to 775 or 800, I get ERROR TONE. I did test the cover grp 775, when I call it from any phone it goes to the QCC and that goes for the LDN 800 also. When I was programming the cover grp 775 it would not accept 540, it would only take 800.

So where do we go from here? What is it about the system logic that ignores the Delay Forwarding timer when forwarding to the QCC?

Waiting for some answers.......

....JIM....

I just had an idea to try forwarding to any other station to see if the delay is working that way. Well to my surprise IT DID NOT WORK! So what would cause the delay forwarding not to work on a phantom (MFM) port? When I was previously reading thru the Features manual I did not see any restriction that I recall like this. Are you guys awhere of any?

....JIM....

You want to use coverage, not forwarding.

Pepperz@charter.net

Have you made sure that somehow, the MFM port did not get put on Do Not Disturb? I believe that overrides Fwd Delay.

Pepperz,
You stated I should use coverage. Did you not read any of the proceeding?? It did not work! So which coverage should be used? Since the system only allows one coverage group per port how does this work?? The current coverage group is VMS and that STAYS! It is active in NITE mode.

Aussie88,
The phantom port has never had DND programmed on it and has no physical primary appearance only cover button appearances.

....JIM....

When I said to make a separate cover group, you made a calling group, that's why I said use coverage, not forward. Let me spell it out a little clearer. Set your phantom to COVER group 29, for example. Keep the cover buttons on the other phones like you want. Set the QCC to answer cover group 29. Now you may have to make a separate CALLING group, say 775 that handles group 29, and then overflows to the QCC, but try the first scenario first. So it will work like this: Adjunct gets call, rings the selected extensions for the primary coverage, if no answer goes to group coverage which is handled by the QCC. Coverage, not forwarding.

What happens to the VoiceMail on grp 30(see printout @ top) for NITE mode??
