ADIC i500 expansion

I have a client who has added a second expansion module to the i500. It is coming up with communication errors. The interconnecting cables have been replaced. Are there any software issues that could cause this problem? I am thinking on the lines of either an internal problem on the first expansion unit or the new expansion module.
Has anyone any suggestions please?
