Am currently trying to add swap space to an Alpha 1200 with HSz50 raid controller - only problem is that unsure of current disk setup other than active disk is dsk5,
# disklabel -r dsk5
# /dev/rdisk/dsk5c:
type: SCSI
disk: HSZ50-AX
label:
flags:
bytes/sector: 512
sectors/track: 254
tracks/cylinder: 20
sectors/cylinder: 5080
cylinders: 6999
sectors/unit: 35555889
rpm: 3600
interleave: 1
trackskew: 7
cylinderskew: 26
headswitch: 0 # milliseconds
track-to-track seek: 0 # milliseconds
drivedata: 0
8 partitions:
# size offset fstype fsize bsize cpg # ~Cyl values
a: 786432 0 4.2BSD 0 0 0 # 0 - 154*
b: 786432 786432 LSMnoprv # 154*- 309*
c: 35555889 0 unused 0 0 # 0 - 6999*
d: 4096 1572864 LSMsimp # 309*- 310*
e: 16989464 1576960 unused 0 0 # 310*- 3654*
f: 16989465 18566424 swap # 3654*- 6999*
g: 4300800 1576960 LSMnoprv # 310*- 1157*
h: 29678129 5877760 unused 0 0 # 1157*- 6999*
#
Here is output of swapon
# swapon /dev/disk/dsk5e
# swapon -s
Swap partition /dev/vol/rootdg/swapvol (default swap):
Allocated space: 49152 pages (384MB)
In-use space: 1 pages ( 0%)
Free space: 49151 pages ( 99%)
Total swap allocation:
Allocated space: 49152 pages (384.00MB)
Reserved space: 16730 pages ( 34%)
In-use space: 1 pages ( 0%)
Available space: 32422 pages ( 65%)
Any ideas how to tell which are free disks/ partitions and so that swapon can be used to make paging space? Currently get following warnings:-
# swapon /dev/disk/dsk0g
Partition(s) which overlap /dev/disk/dsk0g are marked in use.
If you continue with the operation you can
possibly destroy existing data.
