Using GW 6.5.7, the address book is set at “Name Format” -- show first name then last name and it is sorted by First Name. An Address Book has been selected and is displayed; the “Inside” box is set at first name.

When you type a first name in the “Look For” box, it goes to the first person with that name. But if it is a common name and the actual address you want is not visible in the displayed names yet and you put the space in so you can put in the first few letters of the last name; the Address Book sorts itself by last name and jumps to the last person with that first name. When you continue typing in the last name, it just stays at that name it jumped too and the address book is now sorted by last name even though it says it is sorted by first name. It has to be manually resorted, redo the process, but take you hand off the keyboard and scroll down.

It works if the Name Format is last name than first name and sorted by last name, you can type in the last name and then a comma and the first few letters of the first name and it goes to the right address. I tried adding a comma instead of a space when using first name but it has the same behavior of jumping to the last name and sorting the address book by last name. Is there any fix to make it choose based on both first name and then last name and keep the desired sort?

I figured it out. Set the address books for “Name Format” -- show first name then last name and it is sorted by First Name.

For your columns choose Name and Last name. It will auto fill using firstname space and the start of the last name.
