I have a user whose address book is suddenly 'grayed out' and unavailable.

Any ideas?

Not knowing your GW or MS versions I will give a couple of possible ways to fix it. From the desktop you could go into Control Panel/Mail or Control Panel/Mail-Fax (depending on your MS version) and see if the GW services are listed. If not add the GW services (Address Books,Transport, Message Store, etc.). Or you could just try to reinstall the GW client. The latter of these is what I do first for these type problems with the GW client. It only takes a couple of minutes to run GW CleanIt utility on the desktop and then reinstall the client. I can not stress enough that if you reinstall the GW client to first run the GW CleanIt utility. This will remove any instances of the GW client from the registry and direrctories so that no lingering pieces of the client will affect a reinstall. I have included a link for the Trial version of CleanIt 2.0 in case your interested.

I was able to fix a similar problem simply by using System Restore to set Windows (XP) b ack to a (working) previous date.

Thanks FarOut and Jim,

The issue was Outlook. I forgot to take it out of the installation when I put Office on the machine. Removed it and all was well.
