Address Book failed #-1

I am getting Address Book failed #-1 error when I try to sync my Visor
Deluxe with an iMac running Jaguar 10.2.3, Palm Desktop 4.0, & HotSync
Manager 3.0.0. I've already tried reinstalling the Palm Desktop, hard
reset the Visor, replace the User Data file, but nothing works - I
just can't sync the Visor to the iMac. Interestingly, it syncs fine
with a PowerBook G3 266 running OS X 10.1.5 - the last update before
Jaguar. What gives? The log on the iMac showed the problem started
to happen around the time I installed a demo of CJKOS, the software
that enables Chinese input & display, but wiping that out didn't seem
to make any difference. Here's the latest log info, I made all
conduits do nothing except the Address Book but it didn't matter:

I sorta solved the problem by doing a search for all files with the word "Palm" in them and delete them if they appear to be related to the Palm desktop software. Re-load the data from another Mac and even re-install CJKOS afterward - no problem so far, everything back to normal.
