I know this is not an IE forum but I thought possibly someone would be able to assist me as I am having a very frustrating problem...

Just out of the blue, for no reason at all my address bar no longer accepts shortened urls.

I used to type in games.com and it would assume the http;//www. but now it just goes to something called

I have went into the tools/internet options/advanced and checked all the settings. Even reset them to factory default but it still does this cracked earth thing.

any ideas why this IE is going mad on me? Ya' Gotta Love It!

Tulsa,
Mine works fine when I just type games.com!
Must be some setting somewhere...
Suggest you try the IE forum: forum608

Tulsa,
Just found this... Check if the Web addresses box is checked! As described below!

To adjust AutoComplete settings

You can tailor the AutoComplete feature to save and suggest only the information you want. You can choose whether to use AutoComplete for Web addresses, forms, and passwords, or not use it all. And you can clear the history for any of these.

On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
Click the Content tab.
Under Personal information, click AutoComplete.
Select the check boxes for the AutoComplete options you want to use.
