Address Appearing

I have just put the site online, and everytime you click a link it displays down the bottom in the Status Bar, however what I want is for the browser to only show

http://www.thewebsite.com

in the Address bar at the top.

So for example:

I dont want

http://www.thesite.com/pages/index/welcome.htm

If it is possible i would just like

http://www.thesite.com

and now have all the site information at the top.

Is this possible?
