Looking for suggestions on adding a 3rd (and maybe 4th) relay action, using external devices.
Here's the scenario.... I have an existing 2-system SCN, IP Office 8.0 (both systems) Preferred Edition with VM Pro. System A is in one school and uses the onboard relays to lock/unlock 2 doors (typical), and has been doing so flawlessly for about 8 years. System B is in another school, with a third school (connected via walkway tunnel)on the same network via fiber. Doors in each of these schools use onboard relays as well. So, both relays are being used. All phones are 1600 series IP phones. I would like to add additional relay(s) using some sort of a SIP device (or maybe something else that I am not aware exists). No voltage is required, as the schools have a card access system that only requires contact closure to operate door locks. So, the candidate device(s) need to open/close a simple relay using some sort of dial action (short code or extension dial)
Bottom line... my question is whether any of you have successfully used external devices (other than the onboard IP Office relays)to activate relays. Additional door phones are not needed in this scenario. There are no available CO trunk ports or analog station ports currently available without adding base and/or daughter cards.
Thank you in advance for your creativity and knowledge.
