Additional Parameter Values are Needed

I recently changed from CR XI to CR 2008. In 2008, reports created in XI force the following sequence of events in order to save:

(at this point the report has been refreshed)
1. Save
2. message: additional parameter values are needed before this report can be saved or viewed with data. click ok to enter missing values or cancel to proceed without saving. [OK]
3. presented with parameters [OK]
4. message: the saved data is incomplete. generate the data to save? [Yes]

The report can't be saved without stepping through the 4 steps above. This did not happen in CR XI. Is there a setting that will prevent this every time I save a report? Thank you.

I have solved my own issue but it seems like a work-around for a CR bug if I didn't know any better...

The problem occurs when I use a parameter field... a date/time parameter allowing range values. The key here being that ranges are set to "yes".

When I removed the parameter from the report and from the select expert, the error goes away.

When I replace the original parameter field with two parameter fields (one for the start and one for the end)
and
set the select expert as >=start date and <=end date, I don't get the error.

The fix is fine but it seems like the range peramaters doesn't work like it should.
