Sorry, this might be a dumb question. But I have never done this in Linux and so ... I looked through some docs, but still couldnt figure it out.

I am trying to install RH9 on a Dell PowerEdge server which is Raid 5 and the SCSI controller used is LSI Logic. The setup doesnt detect the hard drive as I guess the drivers arent available. Now in Windows (sorry for the cross-reference), I would press F6 to install additional driver, but how do I do in RH9.

Please advice.
Thanks.

boot the install with "linux install dd" (do not include the " char)

Thanks,
I put the drivers on a floppy disk and during boot I tried,
linux install dd
linux dd

The next prompt I got was, "do you have a driver disk", but the screen was frozen.
I tried installind RH AS, Fedora with the same result. What am I missing.
Please advice.
Thanks.

You don't say which PowerEdge you have. RedHat 9 will install on the 1650, 1750, and 2650 servers from the CD with no additional drivers needed (PERC 3 controller). In order to get it to work on a 2850 with the newer PERC 4 controller, you have to use the driver disk (provided in the form of a floppy image, available from Dell) and that's when the dd option will tell the install process to look for device drivers from a floppy disk. I've done it before, you just need to find the floppy image for the drivers.
