I want to create a formula that will add my product_type field. Eg., I have 2 product_types, R and T. I want to add all the R products and then add the T products. In my final report I want separate totals of all R items and T items. Any clue as to how I should do this?

Thanks,
Tracey

Create 2 grand totals, 1 for type R, and 1 for type T. When you need them added together, create a formula that adds the two grand totals together.

Are you sure you need a formula? You could group on Product Type, and then do a subtotal (summary) and grand total. Or you could use a cross-tab at the end to show all three numbers.

As Ken points out, use Insert->Group->{yourtable.producttype}

Now place the field in the details, right click it and select insert->summary->Sum

Now right click the details and select Suppress.
