adding vm ports

Does anyone know if you can add voicemail ports to a Merlin Messaging R2.5 (4 port) simply by adding an additional port card to the second slot of the messaging? I was told you could do this, but it doesn't seem to be working. My customer has a 4-port and wanted to go to an 8-port. I tried adding an additional 4-port card to the 2nd slot and it won't recognize the second pc card. It does recognize the new card if it is in the first slot. Any help is appreciated.

The way it works is, you take out the 4 port and put in an 8 port - NOT CHEAP !

Yet, the 4 port could be sold on ebay, or maybe whomever would sell you the 8 port card would buy back the 4 port card.
