Adding Vista Basic machine to 2k domain 1

I'm having a similar issue as juliaatpcgp except I'm using Vista home basic. It came on a new pc from Dell.
My initial plan was to wipe Vista and use XP however the boss likes the look of Vista and wants to keep it. I've been looking for a tutorial and haven't come across anything.
I can actually get to the shared drive. However when I try to use Access 2002 I get an error telling me that the file is not in our intranet or it's not from a trusted site.
I'm pulling my hair out...

(PS, I have Vista Home Basic which doesn't support joining domains so I think my answer is "no")

You are correct, it works the same as XP Home edition.
